SELOUS GAME RESERVE

LOCATION:

350km south of Dar es Salaam.

Combine with Ruaha, Mikumi, Udzungwa Mountains or the Spice Islands of Zanzibar or Mafia.

 

ABOUT THE RESERVE

The Selous Game Reserve is an untamed and vast wilderness; larger than Switzerland, four times the size of Belgium and it is the largest wildlife protection area in the world. With UNESCO World Heritage Site status, the areas accessible for photographic safaris are centralised on the five lakes and the mighty Rufiji River. Dramatic landscapes and excellent game viewing are guaranteed.

Game drives, walking safaris, boat safaris, camping safaris, lodge safaris, fishing, bird watching.

 

WHEN TO GO

Ideal game viewing: JUNE – FEBRUARY. Can be inaccessible March & April

Stay at least 4 nights.

 

NOTEABLE WILDLIFE SIGHTINGS

Wildlife is spectacular. You will see large populations of endangered wild dog, lion, hyena, buffalo, elephant, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, zebra, eland, waterbuck, wildebeest, hartebeest and greater kudu. It is also a fantastic place for birding.
