KITULO NATIONAL PARK
LOCATION
860 km west of Dar es Salaam, or 125 km from Mbeya. Combine with Ruaha, Mikumi and Udzungwas.
ABOUT THE PARK
A recently established National Park, Kitulo is in the southern highlands and is a place of outstanding beauty. It is a place more reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands and it is hard to believe you are in equatorial Africa. The high plateau of vast open grassland stretches for kilometres, and botanists call this area the ‘Serengeti of Flowers’ which bloom during the wet season.

NOTABLE WILDLIFE SIGHTINGS
Along with 45 species of orchid, you can expect to see aloes, proteas, geraniums, lilies and more than 30 endemic plant species. Big game is spares with a few hardy mountain reedbuck and eland. Birdwatchers are rewarded by Tanzania’s only population of the rare Denham bustard and a host of important endemic species. Hikers will also enjoy fields of butterfly, chameleon and colourful frogs.
